Ā Giovanni Pernice announces dance floor return at Dancing With The Stars weekend.Ā Ā

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice is lacing up his dancing shoes as he prepares to make a ballroom comeback.

Giovanni was forced to take an early exit from the BBC dance series that made him famous this year after celebrity partner Amanda Abbington decided to quit the show.

However, bouncing back, Gio has shared some ā€œfantasticā€ news ā€“ and itā€™s sure to delight fans of the Italian.

Giovanni has revealed that fans will have the chance to meet him and learn some of his famous moves as he takes part in a Dancing With The Stars weekend next year.

Now, before you panic, he hasnā€™t decided to swap Blighty for the States and a stint on the TV show. Instead, he is heading to the Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire for the event.

It will offer fans of the show a chance to get up close and personal with a handful of Strictly stars as they are taught to dance.

ā€œThrilled to share some fantastic news with you all,ā€ Giovanni said. ā€œGuess where you can catch me in March 2024? Iā€™ll be setting the dance floor on fire at the incredible Donaheyā€™s Dancing With The Stars Weekend at Alton Towers Resort! SHH.ā€

He added: ā€œItā€™s going to be a weekend filled with dance, laughter, and unforgettable memories. So, mark your calendars, set your alarms, and get ready to dance the night away with me.ā€

Giovanni then said: ā€œItā€™s going to be a weekend you wonā€™t want to miss! For all the details and to book your tickets, head over to the @donaheys website (link in bio) and secure your spot for what promises to be an EPIC weekend of dancing!ā€

If Gio isnā€™t your pro dancer of choice, there are a handful of others also attending.

The Italian dancer will be joined by the likes of Jowita Przystal, Nikita Kuzmin, Lauren Oakley, Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova.

Starlight Express revival extends London run after one day of pre-sale.

After just one day of pre-sale, producer Michael Harrison has made the decision to extend the booking period for the upcoming London revival of Andrew Lloyd Webberā€™s Starlight Express due to overwhelming demand.

Harrison commented: ā€œStarlight Express is one of the most iconic musicals of the last 40 years, and I am thrilled that our new production has captured the imaginations of all ages all over again. From yesterdayā€™s presale alone, we are today immediately extending our booking period through to 16 February 2025. Itā€™s always been the fastest show on earthā€¦now itā€™s the fastest extension in theatre history!ā€

The show had previously been taking bookings up to October 2024 and the general on-sale begins tomorrow, 9 November.

The musical, which features music by Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, is about a childā€™s train set that comes to life and competes to become the fastest engine in the world. The actors famously perform on rollerskates, and the original choreography was by Arlene Phillips. It opened at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in 1984, and closed in 2002. It has been running in Bochum, Germany for over 30 years, and has been seen by more than 20 million people.

Luke Sheppard (The Little Big Things) directs, while Tim Hatley (Back to the Future) will be designing the sets, with Gabriella Slade (Six) on costume design and Phillips part of the creative team, alongside video designer Andrzej Goulding (Life of Pi), lighting designer Howard Hudson (& Juliet) and sound designer Gareth Owen (MJ the Musical) with new orchestrations and musical supervision by Matthew Brind. It has new choreography by Ashley Nottingham (Pacific Overtures).

The production is set to feature a cast of 40, expected to ā€œwhizz around and aboveā€ the audience. Spectators are able to sit either around and inside the ā€œracing trackā€, or behind the performance space on a more conventional rake.

Performances begin at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre on 8 June 2024.
