Dance for Ukraine 3 (21 March 2026)

The UK dance scene in March 2026 is buzzing with national initiatives and major performances. From a nationwide movement to get everyone moving to high-profile ballet premieres, here is the latest news:

Major National Events:

  • National Day of Dance (8 March 2026): Spearheaded by Angela Rippon CBE, the Let’s Dance! campaign reaches its peak on 8 March. The initiative aims to get the nation dancing for mental and physical health.
  • English National Ballet Collaboration: The ENB has partnered with Dame Arlene Phillips to create choreography for the National Day of Dance, including seated and standing adaptations for their Dance for Parkinson’s programme.
  • MOVE IT 2026: One of the world’s biggest dance festivals is expected this March, featuring headliners like Brian Friedman
    and offering workshops across all styles.

Performance Highlights:

  • Royal Ballet & Opera: Key performances at the Royal Opera House include Giselle and Mayerling.
  • Sadler’s Wells Spring Programme: – Mary, Queen of Scots: A major production running in London. – Body & Soul: Performed by the English National Ballet. – Turn it Out: Featuring Tiler Peck & Friends.
  • Dance for Ukraine 21/03. (21 March 2026): A fundraiser gala at the Royal Academy of Dance, welcomed by Dame Darcey Bussell and featuring stars from the Royal Ballet.

Regional Tours:  

  • Eliot Smith Dance: The POPPY Spring tour visits Tunbridge Wells on 7 March.
  • Shobana Jeyasingh Dance: Touring We Caliban throughout March.

Dance Experiences & Workshops:

  • Dancing with the Stars Weekends: Donaheys is hosting immersive experiences featuring pro dancers Michelle Tsiakkas
    and Simone Arena at Alton Towers (6–8 March) and De Vere Beaumont Estate (27–29 March).
  • Pineapple Dance Studios: Offering over 20 workshop pop-ups this month, including exclusive The Next Step choreography sessions with Alexandra Chaves on 1 March.
  • Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour: The 2026 arena tour is underway, featuring stars like Lewis Cope.

    Full cast for In Pieces musical revealed

The full cast for the upcoming London premiere staged concert of Joey Contreras’ musical
In Pieces at The Other Palace has been revealed.
Described as a love story about the people you don’t end up with, In Pieces follows the romantic journeys of six characters across three chapters of their lives. The staged concert is scheduled to run on 30 & 31 March 2026.

The production, directed by Martha Geelan, features the following cast:

I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical moves premiere plans due to Peacock Theatre repairs

I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical has relocated its world premiere to the Hackney Empire after “essential building works” forced the immediate closure of the Peacock Theatre

Here are the updated plans and schedule:

  • New Premiere Venue: The production will now open at the Hackney Empire for a limited engagement.
  • Revised London Dates: Performances at the new venue will run from 20–25 March 2026.
  • Booking Information: General booking for the Hackney run opens on 5 March 2026, with priority access for those who previously held tickets for the Peacock Theatre run.
  • Refunds/Rebooking: Sadler’s Wells is contacting affected ticket holders from the cancelled Peacock run (originally scheduled for 5–28 March) regarding refunds and rebooking options.
  • Touring Schedule: The musical will proceed with its regional tour as planned, visiting the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry (1–4 April) and the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne (7–11 April).
  • Future Peacock Run: The production is currently expected to return to the Peacock Theatre in August 2026 once repairs are complete..

General News & Sighting

  • Ashley Wallen won the Emmy award for Outstanding Choreography last night for his work on Disney’s “Descendants: The Rise of Red”.
  • The Peacock theatre in London will close temporarily for essential building works, with all performances suspended during the period of repairs. The venue’s scheduled run of “I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical” will no longer take place at the theatre. The production has now been relocated to the Hackney Empire where it will have a limited engagement from the 20th to the 25th of March.
  • Joanne Clifton and Ore Oduba announced the “Champions Reunited ” tour to mark 10 years since the pair won Strictly. The tour will open in Bournemouth on the 17th of August.
  • Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg have welcomed their baby boy.
  • Choreographer Wayne McGregor received an Olivier Award for his contribution to dance. Miss Betty Laine OBE was given an Industry Recognition Award.
  • Dollie Henry’s BOP have a performance on the 13th of March at Morley College in London from 7.00 pm. You can book your tickets via the Eventbrite link in the BOP Instagram bio.
  • Chichester Festival theatre has announced a new production of “My Fair Lady”. It will run at the Festival theatre from the 6th of July until the 5th of September. The choreography is by Stephen Mear.
  • Ryan Tomash has been promoted to principle dancer at the New York City Ballet.

  • The English National Ballet has announced its season for 2026/7 titled “A Season To Feel More”.
  • “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” will return to the UK on a 10th anniversary tour. The show will open in Leeds on the 15th of January 2027. It has choreography by Kate Prince.
  • A musical stage adaptation of the film “Coyote Ugly” will come to the West End in 2027. It will be directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
  • “Just For One Day; The Live Aid Musical” is to embark on a UK tour in 2027. The show has choreography by Ebony Molina.
  • “Heathers the Musical” will return to the UK from Summer 2026 for a new tour. The show will have choreography by Gary Lloyd.
  • A new production of “Fame” will run from the 28th of July until the 15th of August 2026 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. It will have choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves.
  • “Dirty Dancing” will be touring the UK from the summer of 2026. The show will have choreography by Austin Wilkes and open in Milton Keynes on the 27th of August 2026.
  • A new revival of “Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” has been confirmed for this year as part of the new season from the Birmingham Rep.
  • A musical version of “10 Things I Hate About You” is officially in the works. It will have choreography by Christopher Wheeldon
