General Sightings

The Guardian published its Top 10 Dance Shows of 2020:

1. Natalia Osipova in “Onegin” at the Royal Opera House.

4. “Message In A Bottle” at The Peacock Theatre, London.
5. Royal Ballet Live: “Within The Golden Hour”, at The Royal Opera House and online.

8. “MAM” at Sadlers Wells, London.

We spotted a lot of pro dancers in the TV show “Bridgerton”: Lolly Campbell, Charlotte Habibi, Crystal Hantig, Katie Anjuli, Fallon Dee, Annie Blomfield, Chrissy Brooke, Luke Field-Wright, Katherine Iles, Abby Taylor, Jamie Body and Laura Lake. Well done!

The Pro dance on the “Strictly Come Dancing” Christmas Special was choreographed by Tommy Franzen and Lizzie Gough.

French choreographer Ousmane Sy died aged 40.

The death was announced of Locking and “Street Dance” star Adolfo “Shabba-Doo” Quinones.

Congratulations to Graham Watts, the leading dance writer and critic, on completing his challenge of watching a different work of dance every day throughout 2020.

On the Christmas “Top Of The Pops” TV show, we spotted several pro dancers performing with James Arthur and Sigala: Mari Macleod, Poppy Dene Lingham, Jordan Funk, and Kailum Richardson. The contract was with the AMCK Dance Agency.

Dance Appointments & Awards

Lucy Dusgate was appointed as the new Partnership Director of Leeds Dance Partnership after Shirley Lundstram became Head of Programme-Heritage at Cause4.

The following dance awards were made in the New Years Honours List:

Sharon Watson, CEO & Principal of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, received an MBE.
Andrew Hunt, CE of One Dance UK, was awarded an MBE.
Sharon Higgins of BBO Dance was awarded the British Empire Medal.
Aakash Odedra and Anand Bhatt of the Aakash Odedra Company received the British Empire Medal.

Film & Videos

The big event for the pro commercial dancers was the new video for Harry Style’s number: “Treat People With Kindness”. The contract was awarded to the Mass Movement Dance Agency with the video being choreographed by Paul Roberts. We spotted the brilliant Katie Collins partnering Mr Styles alongside dancers: Paris McDonald, Kieran D-W, Jo Dyce, Jared Hageman, Naomi Weijand, Alejandra Deane, Ben Hukin, Kane Horn and Demi Mensah.

English National Ballet’s “Nutcracker Delights” is free to view on its YouTube channel and Facebook page.
